9-foo Q a v 6 I 1 l N I 1 1 TI-IE JUNIOR COLLEGE OWAISSA 4 Charles Gustafson, better known among the College stu- dents as Gus , came to Junior College in 1925 from Shurtleff College. Gus', piloted the foot- ball team through a hard fought season and produced the best basketball team the college has yet turned out. Gus's greatest trial was the track team which he managed to get going by con- stant spurring Roy A. Dillon assumed the respon- sibility of filling the position of athletic manager. Dillon really was the main stay in the football and basketball teams. lVluch credit must be given to Dillon for the success ot the different teams, al- though he refuses to be the goat and take the blame for their failures. 48 1 -- ,. , Y , , , , W , I T , ,s.gs- wuf..: - ss.- , srizaa-.-eziegzna-.sf4.:sa3.si-A-:gals

THE JUNIOR COLLEGE OWAISSA ite, Weinhold, lVIcClinti -', Zuber, lVIitchener, Coach Gustafson, Edwards, Jolliff, Kreiger, Nay Glasgow, Bishop, Baker, Dean, Long, Rider West, Arn. FOOTBALL Last fall Junior College was introduced into the realm of foot- ball for the first time. The large squad that turned out was very enthusiastic and at one time there were enough men out to have two teams in practice. For a beginning team Junior College tackled a hard schedule playing teamsthat had been playing together for two years or more. Although the scores were mostly one sided the team did not lose its fighting spirit and- grew stronger as the season prog- ressed. Before the Thanksgiving game yellow journals came out with the slogan, Great Scott, why not, get hot, Beat Fort Scottn The student body was expecting a good game from our boys and they were not disappointed. Many humorous incidents helped to keep the spirit of the game up and to give the campus something to talk about, such things as, the number of men big Kreiger laid out, and lVIacH lVlcClintics, black eye. Taken as a whole the past football season was very satifactory and the student. body is looking foward to the coming season with high hopes for a successful season. 44
