Y r 1 Dr. Morinaccio A man always willing to smile--that's our superintendent, Dr. Anthony Marinaccio. Dr. Tony came to Kankakee from Mexico, Missouri, where he served as superintendent of their schools, and Pe- oria, Illinois, where he was assistant superintendent. Although he seldom had a moment in his busy schedule to spend with the students, Dr. Marinaccio's warm personality was generally felt by the student body. His friendly grin and cheerful Hellothere certainly endeared him to the hearts of KHS. I A 44 X A--as - Board of Education: Gilbert Hertz, Byron Laws, C. J. Rornary, Roy Strasma, Dr. Marinaccio, Herbert Hess, Vernon McBroomg Edwin Sale, School Attorney, Walter J. Charlton, School Treasurer. 4 1411, I M. If li f A, V,5Vb?,,s,ggf5, --..i Miss Cole Tiny she is, but we'1l wager that no other dean of girls has any more energy, enthusiasm, patience, and understanding than our Miss Cole. Regardless of what she's doing--advising her girls, managing the guidance council, sponsoring Girls' Club, NHS, or Pep Club projects, she seems to give herself completely. Why? Because she is a living example of a person dedicated to her work. Q lisa 4 . 74 A which he is engaged. Mr. Bedell There's an old saying that it takes a heap o livin to make a house a home. That can easily be changed to fit us it takes a heap 'o work to make astructure a school. And that work fallsright on the shoulders of G. W. Bedell, KHS principal Yet with allofhis responsibilities, Mr. Bedell finds the time to appear before the stu dents in the auditorium, and when meeting one in the hall to give afriendly smile and a hearty Hello . KHS can countitselffortunate to have so able a man at its head. is . Mr. Norton Sponsor of Student Council projects, helping hand to the Kl-IS boys a holder of tardy slips Qof hated green!J a nd pe rmits qof white if you're luckylj, etc.,etc., and so forth! How much more can one man be expected to do? The maximum hasnot yet been proven but if more is possible. Mr. Norton, dean of boys is sure to be doing it Mr. Norton seems to have a hand in almost every school activity and is never found to be lacking enthusiasm for the present one in camo x Zflnmcersfvde-I 'WM' QMMWMMMWMJ, Zfwvww Lfffflff LAQMM-itll 12221335 Q ,,t4,AJi,,QVXWe wi rw il ,fvawfv CLD Q LJJecfC UMAJDLV MAJ 5 H Ol - Superintendent's Office Staff: Idella Myer,G1oria Shepherd, Ruth Hen- XJQ-AJRIQJ yqjxu-,VL2 Qgkxvu 'L -fy-,fL,,,4A4s5:he1, Ethel Hay. We'1l get the usual facts over now--we elected Bob Rasche president, Bob Luckey vice- president, and Joyce Poitras secretary-treasurer. Naturally our sophomore year was great, junior year greater, but senior year the greatest! Our teams were some of the best KHS has supported and we stayed behind them the whole way. fRemember how we out-cheered the sophs and juniors at every pep ra1ly?j The senior conference brought us all together, along with 700 others, to discuss problems that are facing us today. As everyone expected, our play and assembly outshone all previous performances. CWe're seniors, need there be any more said?l Now the time has come for us to relinquish our state of Seniorhood. So to you youngsters below us, we wish the best of luck and hope that your years will prove as happy as ours. 16 MARTHA ADAM MARY AHROON ROSALIE AFRICANC 'Yrs' RONALD ALLEN RICHARD ALLIE IANE ALLISON , 21' . Worrell sophomores Oh, you upper classmen! You delight in calling us first floor fungus . But we're not. We made a pretty good showing this year. First of all we elected Burt Taylor our president, Steve Lang our vice-president, and Nancy Holm- strorn our secretary-treasurer. Good choices, don't you think? Another thing, we didn't fall for that elevator line for long. But we played along with you upperclzssmen so you'd get some laughs! Our teams were some of the best ever. We backed them in all their games and then stayed on to cheer for the varsi- ty. After our first-of-the-year stage fright, we managed to make plenty ofnoise during the pep assemblies. We entered into the scheme of things this year and really enjoyed our- selves. Now that the year is ending, we find that we played a pretty important part in KHS life. Stan opened the 1955-1956 term of activitieswith the installation of a public telephone booth on the second floor. The Homecoming activities, drenched by rain, were largely the responsibility of the Student Council. Terry Chapman and Sharon Posing were elected to the posts of vice-president and secretary -treasurer, re- spectively, to aid Stan in the direction of the Council's activities. Candy sales at noon, providing the students with 'sweet tooth' material, was the main source of revenue for the Council. Christmas decorations, concessions and dances during football and basketball seasons, plus the maintenance of general good will throughout the school were only a few of this busy group's tasks. Mr. Norton, Mrs. Burch, Mr. Henderson, Mr. Pinkstaff, and Mr. Weber were on hand to advise and help the Student Council in its many decisions and duties. 58 'Big decision ahead. The members of this club were organized un- der the cadet system. This method was found to be quite valuable to the students aswell as teach- ers, since one of the members could be called upon to take an instructor's place when they were called away.
