mrs. Boat acted as dean of girls in the absence of Miss Shuman, who is studying at North- western University. New teachers were Miss Erbe, Miss Allen, Miss Lemmon, Miss Hickey, Miss Kesler, Mr. Holt, and Mr. Norton. Miss Smith, in Ianuary, left her work in the office for graduate study at Indiana University: she was replaced by Miss Reynolds, who had been on leave of absence in California. Miss Larson, in April, accepted a position in Milwaukee State Teachers' College. Mrs. Dykstra and Mrs. Bond took over history and geography classes for the remainder of the year. Miss Greely handled the clerical work for the government war-work training courses. Miss Freitag's book, 'Treighter Adventures, was published.
