Merritt Whimsett '34, missing since Sept. 5, 1942, after Win- ning the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Order of the Pur- ple Heart for heroism in the Pacific. Lower left: P. F. C. Fran- cis Prew '36, sent to Australia for overseas duty, lost his life on March 19, 1942. Lower mid- dle: Pvt. William Goodberlet ex-'41, marine, missing since March 16, 1942, when the U.S.S.
