Everyone goes to the school ahead of time to reg- ister, and get all squared away for the upcoming year, but yet, you ' ve got a strange sensation. Al- though you ' ve been to that same, massive, brick building, with its outdoor courts, located on those by-no-means prominent roads, almost, seemingly surrounded by trees, and yet . . . sprouting from the earth in the middle of a field, so many times before, — still you feel odd. The summer ' s not over, and it doesn ' t seem right going through those huge glass doors and entering that large, echoing main hall. It ' s like an omen of things to come, and for a moment, you stop to reflect on what it ' ll be like back in school, but then, back to the matter at hand you proceed toward the guidance office to register. But there you find kids, and kids, and more kids. You spot a friend, exchange your first hellos, and decide to wander about rather than stand in a line that seems like it ' ll surely last for at least two days. When you return, you finally reach the counselors, you ' re handed some papers, a brief (and I mean brief) ex- planation, and shoved aside to keep things moving. With the question in your mind — But, what do I do with this junk, how when? , — you walk back out the doors, return to ycur car, and head for home — but not untouched by the somewhat gladdening, frightening, disgusting, or just plain realization of the inevitable future.
