fall sports banquet The fall sports were over and, with some regret, we marked the end of another season. To honor those Kougars who did their best in sports, we held the Fall Banquet. Here, the players were given awards and honor jackets. The Kougars may not have had their best season, but they kept trying, striving for a win, learning from their mis- takes, taking pride in the fact that they are Kougars. In every respect, our boys, win or lose, are proud to be called Kougars. 19

â–ºvtiUGA ' i .uuG4 Along with all of the major sports at KVHS, there ' s another, Cross Country. There was a change as far as meets went this year. The two mile run was changed to two and a half miles. With this new aspect, our first school record for the two and a half mile run was set at 14.34, by Ed Jamieson. The team consists of eleven guys who were willing to run their tails off. This is a comparatively unglamorous sport which doesn ' t gain much recognition at all. The guys run from ten to fifteen miles a night for this sport, and the only thing they really get is self-satisfac- tion from doing their best. Some participate to condition for other sports, and some mav join just to participate in 3 sport; but whatever the reason behind it, they deserve to be commended for the effort they put forth. a$uG ft CROSS COUNTRY. the crucible The fall play this year was The Crucible by Arthur Miller. Although the play seemed mainly concerned with the witch trials of early Massa- chusetts, it really explored the fears and prejudices held in the souls of men. The cast portrayed their roles con- vincingly, and the audience was caught up in the action. Perhaps The Crucible was the first serious, mean- ingful production that our Drama Department has presented. It won ' t be the last.
