High school years are times filled with many diversions . . . here we have captured the athletic events, activities, students, teachers, and student life from the past year . . . but it is impossible to illustrate everything that has happened to each and everyone of us . . . there have been far too many times ... we hope that 1980 Hurri -Kane helps you to put your year into perspective . . . The staff of the 1980 Hurri - Kane would like to dedicate this year's book to a woman who has spent much of her time with us. “I don't think this word sounds right ' and “It's up to you ' are familiar phrases. Miss Hilty is always available to help us think of just the right caption or exactly the right word. When teaching English or German, Miss Hilty retains the patience she has with her yearbook staff. Her warm heart makes a 58 7 A time to learn ... a time to have fun ... a time to watch the clock for 3:10 ... VERN JOHNSON Superintendent JACK HEDLUND Principal Coach, do realize what could happen if we don't win tonight's match? 139 RULES FOR TEACHERS 1880 Teachers each day will fill lamps, clean chimneys. Each teacher will bring a bucket of water and a scuttle of coal for the day's session. Make your pens carefully. You may wittle nibs to the individual taste of the pupils. Men teachers may take one evening each week for courting purposes, or two evenings a week if they go to church regularly. After ten hours in school, the teachers may spend the remaining time reading the Bible or other good books. Women teachers who marry or engage in unseemly conduct will be dismissed. Every teacher should lay aside from each pay a goodly sum of his earnings for his benefit during his declining years so that he will not become a burden on society. Any teacher who smokes, uses liquor in any form, frequents pool or public halls, or gets shaved in a barber shop will give good reason to suspect his worth, intention, integrity and honesty. The teacher who performs his labor faithfully and without fault for five years will be given an increase of twenty - five cents per week in his pay, provided the Board of Education approves.
