Orange sun, beaming bright, I could hardly see! The clouds, magnificentlll pink, blue, white. And as I looked up to the clouds, I saw reflections. Reflections of a great body of water, and a lone person, walking slowly. It was me. The sea gulls had started their daily rounds, the breeze was quite pleasant, and as I looked again, in the background, you were approaching me I started to run. I ran and ran. Then the storm, out of nowhere gave way. The water, wickedly splashing, wind whipping, ,grey black clouds, filling the sky, rain falling stinging my face and hands. But when I stopped and turned around, you were gone. so was the storm. And now my mind once more is at ease . . V. ...youaregone...... - Sherry Kasaback xx 4 M..-A. The 1971-72 Kane High Wolves, under head coach Dick Smith, had a rough go at it as they experienced a 1-7-1 record, with the only win coming against the Johnsonburg Rams, in a thrilling 23-16 victory. Jesse Olson, Jim Sirian- ni, John Maliovec and Larry McNeill led the way as the only seniors. The team was definitely hampered by lack of experience. There were bright spots though as Kane's all-around performer, Jesse Olson was named to the Bucktail All-Star Team . . . The Big 30 Team lmade up of 30 area schoolsl as a defensive linebacker, and honorable-mention All- State . . . Other members of the Bucktail All-Star squad from Kane were Jim Sirianni, defensive halfback, leading the Wolves with seven interceptions this season . . . iunior Lynn Carlson, named as an offensive tackle, and impressive sopho- more, Pat lmbrogno, elected as a defensive tackle . . . Leading ground gainer this season? Larry McNeill, carrying 67 times for 270 yards . . . Best average per carry? Jim Sirianni, churning out 4.8 yards per carry . . . Leading passer? Pete Smith, completing 25 out of 81 passes for two T.D.'s . . . Pete's favorite target? Jim Sirianni, who caught 12 passes for 77 yards and one T.D .... Most tackles? Jesse Olson led the way with 35 unassisted and 131 assisted . . . next came John Maliovec, with 23 unassisted and 81 assisted . . . closing out the top three hitters was Jim Sirianni, with 31 unassisted and 28 assisted . . . The future? Very bright. The Wolves have a total of 16 returning lettermen, many of whom had much valuable game experience . . . OPP. KANE RIDGWAY I 2 SOUTHWESTERN 26 EMPORIUM I9 .IOHNSONBURG I6 ST. Wrestling is still a comparative newcomer on the sports scene in Kane High being only in its second year though the sport is fairly new, the mat men continued to gain in popularity with both the student body and fans. The win and loss column for the 1971-1972 season is not impressive, however, statistics show the spirited tlers recorded marked improvement over their opening season as they learned numerous moves and counter l while their knowledge and knowhow of this exciting sport continued to develop.Takedowns, pins, near pins, p combinations, escapes and reversals, figure fours, rolls, the Navy Ride, stand ups, sit outs, and cross facing are a few of the moves which made their presence felt. Several of the team members became lettermen and many of newcomers showed promise that a top notch team is on the way. Seniors who will be missing from next year's up are Guy Anderson, Ted Johnson, Fred Kelley, Rich Miller, Dick O'Rourke and Carl Stenberg. A special col tion was made by the mothers of the boys as they prepared and served refreshments to the visiting teams, leaders, and the wrestling wolves. With so many mat men fighting the weight battle, especially before weigh these lunches were greatly appreciated. Judging from the excitement generated by this sport, it should be a part the Kane High sport scene for years to come! 1911511 fy : W ff W 130 1 wisfsakfilif- TRACK 1 is 5 1 This year's track squad under Coach Dave Brown should prove to be a tough contender. The Wolves will be strong in the long and mid- dle distances, led by ace runner Terry Wile. Kevin Carter will lead the pole vaulting, and is expected to do well this season. Other top performers for the Wolves will be Larry McNeill, Dan Benscoter, Dean Ross and Jim Sirianni. CR099 COUNTRY Front Row, L. to R.: Coach Brown, J. Blous- er, T. Johnson, B. Johnson, B. Or maybe bare feet are your thing. Not Bradford AGAIN! Some day - ! Cross country is looking forward to de- feating Bradford. The team's 1971 season could be termed fairly suc- cessful - the best since its incep- tion. Just follow that Wile kid from Kane if you get confused with the flags. GOLF .1 . .,,k, wj,,,,.,.- .. L. Under the coaching of Miss Cathy Adamson, the girls fired out an im- pressive record - Varsity finishing 9-3 and J.V.'s completing the sea- son I0-2. The PIAA league was recently formed and this first season may be recalled with pride. All players agreed, Bradford was definitely the toughest. Varsity players Deb- bie Cleer and, Betty Lindquist were given special recognition by being voted on to the League's All-Star team.
