4 1 3 w 1 1 w 4 n V X w KANE AREA HIGH SCHOOL Dedication Because Mrs. Arlene Heath has been a source of encouragement to us, the class of 1967, we hereby dedicate this yearbook to her. She has displayed genuine concern for her pupils and we have always found her to be kind, sympathetic, understanding, and considerate. Mrs. Heath has cheerfully given of herself to help us when we needed it. 2 K Y, . Some are sincere, some are swayed, some are stupid. Almost always when people try to act as one force they lose integrity be- cause they compromise to become one of the anonymous group. When you march, don't be afraid to march alone in the direction that you believe is right. You may or may not be decidely effective but you can stand straight and tall and proud be- cause you can be counted. Prin cquzl Today, more than any other time in history, education, religion, and good government work- ing together will help to bring about the peace that is so desperately needed for mankind. To help reach this goal, our high school is dedicated to the finest curriculum available. With a superior faculty, proper guidance, and flexible scheduling, each student is directed into areas where his natural talents can best be developed, so that he can play his part in de- veloping a better world in the twenty-first century than we have known in this. Board of Education Behind every well regulated organization there is always one group responsible for its success. The Board of Education is this group in the Kane Area School District. Each member of the Board gives generously of his time, ability, and energy in formulating the policies of the District schools. This Board is now faced with a building program which will surpass anything heretofore planned. Decisions must be made with the best in- terests of the pupils, and their education in mind, even though these decisions meet with the approval of some and the disapproval of others. This is only one of the many tasks that confront these Board members. This group of gentlemen deserve a rising vote of thanks from teachers, pupils, and the public. 11 Robert Boyer B.S. The Hurri-Kane staff worked hard to complete this book of memories. There were many deadlines to be met. Besides taking the many pictures, the staff did a considerable amount of copy writing and proofreading. When all of the various jobs were finished a dummy was made. At last, after many months of work this book was published. And so another Hurri- Kane was made available to the students of Kane. Miss Carla Hilty was advisor. 5030111 ROW. L to Fl: K. Ochs, J. On stage they held their flaming torches and solemnly vowed: I pledge myself to uphold the high purpose of this society and to make its ideals the ideals of my life and my school. This society is composed of juniors and seniors who demonstrate the qualities of scholarship, character, and service. Each candidate must be in the upper third of his class and satisfy the other virtues. My Favorite Haunts proved otherwise. The story concerns a new, modern principal who resides in his dead aunt's house. The odd thing about this is, his dead aunt still re- sides there. The townspeople still bring their troubles to her through a medium, eleven-year- old Joy Van Saterlee. The plot thickens as David brings in a psychologist and finally a witch to rid the house of ghosts. Finally Aunt Celestine leaves, but not until Ben Landers, her lost boy- friend, comes and asks her to go to the Great Beyond with him. L to Fl: R. Morse, T. Wile, H. Carley, D. Buzard, J. Komidar, B. The Senior High Chorus, under the direction of Loren Wright, meets every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday in the audi- torium during the first period. The strains of Elijah Bock , The Shepherds' Story , or maybe even The Night Before Christmas can be heard re- sounding throughout the school. This was Kane's first year as a member of the newly formed Bucktail Conference. Lacking size, the Wolves more than made up for it with their scrappy play. Led by a hard-hitting defen- sive unit, and an exciting offense, the Wolves provided fans with many thrilling moments. The future for Coach Boyer and his staff looks very promising with eight returning Iettermen and a good Jayvee team as a nucleus for next year's club. Komidar, B. Orzechowski, T. Ingersoll. Track First year coaches Keith Weiser and William Siegel assembled a strong track team, regaining both the County and District Titles for Kane High in the 1966 season. For the first time in the past few years, the team possessed depth in both the field events and on the track. Three records were shattered during the year by Steve Turner in the pole vault, Bob Lyon in the sprints, and Bill Weborg in the high hurdles, but in the final analysis it was a tremendous team effort which brought success to the Weiser Men. The season saw 25 boys letter with 12 earning the right to participate in the state meet. With 14 returning lettermen Mr. Weiser views the coming season with high hopes. . .sm : W .. ...AE ,Q A--:- swfiifv. f?1:.g?Exiiv9Li5-:- .Ye'.l.!?' - .. vf': f A--, HM. ,A..v, X Jussi. w w .- 5'3P?SJ9?.s:f5E3A3'fR7':- k :V 5593 ' .gag . 5 Q52 ' vS.gvgS:,-..-'sg.f'5i.ss:AsQ.. - -f AW.. . , . -,K ,.::: A . st Q' 'Z .JISQL1 ' .
