' .1 Gerald Perry - Secretary BOARD OF EDUCATION At least once a month this group of eleven men meets to determine the direction of education in the Kane Area. Extra evenings are given to committee meetings on education, buildings, athletics, and finances. All this time is given as a form of public service. Whenever the Kane Area Schools have attained heights of excellence, a great part of the credit goes to the Board of Education who, by furnishing the personnel and the materials of education, have made such things possible. First and foremost in America, the destiny of public education depends on the efforts of public-spirited citizens who struggle for continuous improvements in our schools in order that the students may meet the demands of our de- mocracy. SUPE RINTENDE NT By the end of this year over 5400 people will have graduated from the Kane High School. Adding to this the number who have graduated at james City, Ludlow and Mt. Iewett the number totals over 7000. All these schools have made significant contri- butions to this area in the past. They have also contributed to the state, the nation and the world. We are represented around the world from the Department of State, the armed forces, on college faculties, in all the professions-in all walks of life. Naturally, for those who have best succeeded, high school was but a stepping-stone. It was a vital one, however. Not only will Kane Area High School have an effect on what you will become but you will have an effect on the reputation and stature of the school. Be proud of your school, make your school proud of you. Dalton C. VanOrmer 4 Paul R. Miller PRINCIPAL The past year has been one of learning in Kane Senior High. Our school justifies its program and existence when students become self-motivated searchers for truth and knowledge begins to mature into wisdom. Education is very much in the spotlight and the reasons are perfectly clear. The role of education has assumed crucial significance because we have great faith in the power of education. Education can help all Americans to act more intelligently and better understand the problems of our country. To meet the space age and combat military aggression requires trained scientists and mathematicians. Our economy demands education for research, business and industrial administration. How much you have learned depends on how much you have wanted to learn. In reviewing the Hurri-Kane for 1964-1965 we hope you will recall the great challenges to improve yourself. Kane High School strives to effect these ends.
