First class in years to hold a sophomore party. they put it over very successfully. lust as successful was their drive tor Red. Cross War Relief Funds which netted S1630 and their Red Cross work. These sophomores were very ac- tive in all school affairs, and next years toot- ball, basketball, and track tearns will benefit by the promise of znany athletes. Willing Workers Like butterflies emerging from their grade school cocoons into the excitement of high school schedules and activities, the eighty eighth graders were rather shaky for a few days until they became accustomed to their strange new environment. Finding their way around a huge building Cthat is, in comparison with the grade school buildingsl was like going from one foreign and faraway country to another. Completing their metamorphoses from shy seventh graders to confident eighth graders by the middle of the term, they com- mitted to memory the words and music of o r school song and Alma Mater, like the loy. Kane High students they were. Eighth Grade HOME ROOM 12 3 FRONT ROW - Robert Van Dervort, Donald Swanson, William Rietter, Harry Weiser, George Shatto, Williaifp Peterson. The eighth graders took part almost lUUC: strong in the intramural program, and what they lacked in experience in basketball, mush- ball and other sports, they made up in en- thusiasm. Their Christmas parties, too, were a great success, Rooms l2 and l3 going together to make one affair and Room l4 staging one of its own. Anxious to prove themselves as ready and '.-:illing to help - perhaps more ready and will- ir,g, were the truth to be told - than the upper classmen, th y eigth-Jgraders knitted nldrens suits aricylfcifvasjlgumber of squares fo afghans.
