Asp, Evan Lee Fields, Robert Potter Girls Rlfle Club This new organi ation the Girls Rifle Club Nas the outgrowth of the o, ening of the rifle range early last fall lts purpose was to afford an opportunity to those girls who desired to learn the proper handling of firearms and the fundamentals of good rifle shooting While yet in its infancy this club has definitely established itself in the extra curricular activities program of the school and promises to prove a definite contribution to the education of the sportswomen in the student body S.. eaulyl Am' Fir lach Thursday night the feminine Daniel Boones tote their weapons to the rifle range where under the instruction of Misses Rlizabeth Swanseen and lane Heath and Christian Feit they spend the evening knock ing holes in the black bulls of standard lU ooint targets to demonstrate their sin cerity the members of the Girls Rifle Club ale affiliated zith the National Rifle Asso ciation lunior Division and are now qualify ing for the various medals for proficiency in narksmanshio lt is hoped in the very near future a team can be selected to shoot matches with other girls teams in the country 21 HOBBIES . f .rj . HOBBIES . A an Ladies and Gentlemen ot the Press Journalism Those students with a yearning for a Journal istic career were given the opportunity to prove their abilities in the Iournalism Club Not only were members exposed to the tacts ot 1ournal istic style but they received actual training and practice in writing Naturally the club was the most value to those students who were or hoped to be mem bers ot the Hi Lite Staff A comparatively new organization the Iournalism Club has been a decided aia to the Hi Lite in so tar as it trains its members in writing news and feature articles The value of the club was not limited to this however Through careful study and observa tion club members learned how to read a news paper correctly This knowledge made it possi ble not only to acquire more intormation but to broaden the reading interests in addition to this acquaintance with the iournalistic method of expression was an advantage in the writing ol ordinary compositions As proof of their knowledge ot the works Iournalism Club members under the direction ot Miss Bosana Eckman edited a creditable Wash made a grand finish to their course MEMBERS Dorothy Hau Beth Ann McConnell Iirn Thomson Don M Laughlin Sidney Brennan Hilda Mc Kerna Marian Dougherty Ken Mayo George McGhee Dick Childs Iirn Gillis Knit Purl The Knit Puri Club has definitely established itself as a worthwhile organization in our extra curricular program Having chosen A stitch in time saves nine as their motto, every club member endeavored to stand by it in economy and efficiency, Every year since its organiza- tion, the club has enjoyed an enorm- ous popularity and a consequent large membership. This year was no exception.
