In addition to the regular con- certs, the Advanced Choir parti- cipated in a choir festival in No- vember and the Big Nine Choral Festival in April. In its first year at Kamiakin the Prep Choir sur- prised many people with their ability and enthusiasm. Although they are primarily a training group, they proved capable in their performances. The Girls Ensemble performed in concerts and continued to uphold the reputation established last year. The Swing Choir competed in several festivals including a Festi- val at Vancouver, B.C.

Baird The Color Guard is Kamiakin's color- ful and precise addition to football halftimes, basketball shows and pa- rades where they present the flag and perform precision routines. The unit practices and performs under the leadership of Cindy Hunt KSMI - Cap- tain. Her co-captains are Gayle Brock- man and Tami Cosby. Their main func- tions are personalized Valentine Cookies and annual Sweetheart Hop. Their faculty advisors are Irene Dale and Linda Slick. Drill Team is an active participant in football and basketball halftimes. They also perform at wrestling meets, as- semblies and numerous parades throughout the Northwest. In addi- tion to precision marching, the Drill Team performs a variety of specialty dance routines. Both the unit and its individuals won top honors last Aug- gust at the Thunderbird Drill Team Clinic in Spokane. They sponser Ka- miakin's annual Sadie Hawkins Dance. Through- out the year the members are involved in many dif- ferent activities: Guardian Angels for the Varsity Football, Basketball, Wrestling 84 Baseball teams, decorating the locker room for the IV 84 Rook teams, serving at banquets for various or- ganizations including the annual sports award ban- quet, selling Christmas decorations and other spirit promoters for profit.
