Democracy's Voice Junior Elizabeth Akana was chosen as the first run- ner-up in Kamehameha's Voice of Democracy speech contest. She is a member of Kamehameha's Speech Society and Symphony Orchestra. Catching some z's Ranked near the top of her class, Junior Kanani Zehm is heavily involved in the honors program, partici' pates in several clubs, and models for Susan Pages' Agency. Promise and potential Waynette Lina Naipo, Lauren Forsythe, and Kaleo Blaisdell, were chosen by their teachers as three of the 1 promising members of their 8th grade class. Patriotism In Kamehameha's Voice of Democracy contest, Cheryl Koide, a Sophomore, took first place with her outstanding speech about old-fashioned American pas triotism. NN Wilhelm at the helm Junior class president Tina Wilhelm posesses standing leadership qualities. Last year Tina was sen as Kamehameha's Hugh O'Brian Youth dor. She was then chosen as one of the two representatives to the National Youth C held in Washington, D.C. Yo' Yama Sophomore Treasurer, Sheri Yamauchi, was meha's Hugh O'Brian Youth Seminar Ambassador this year.

Now she is competing with Honor Society members around the state for the scholarship. A late bloomer High school dropout Ed Tiffany now holds two master's degrees. He says about teaching, I teach because I want to, not because I have to. Chock bored, never Senior Jenny Chock is another outstanding and versatile Senior. She ranks in the top 5 of her class, is a member of the Warrior band, and par- ticipates in a number of other clubs and service organizations.
