While sen- ior adults worked hard at organiz- ing and planning for our futures, we seniors spent much of our time looking to the past and trying to recapture some of its innocence. Staff photographer Bonnie Ishii lugged a van-load of her baby brothers' Care you sure they wer- en't yours?j trikes and big wheels to school and invited three ever-willing and usually courteous fun-lovers - David Maeva, Napp Fukuda. and Roland Logan - to spend an afternoon wheeling down Smith Hill. Bonnie's conclusion: nostalgia, and David's steering skills, iust aren't what they used to be.

Both she and my parents were very encouraging, so I figured, why not? I had to appear for two interviews and a dressing in a kahiko outfit. When I learned that I had been selected as the Aloha Week Prince, I was nervous and my parents were proud. Because l'm representing the State of Hawai'i, l'm always in view. I have to keep still and straight-faced. lt's especially hard when l'm around kupuna. I want their approval.
