Ivana Momilani Lau Waipahu. O'ahu i r Mark Stephen Lau Kane'ohe, O'ahu Ronald Kehauokalani Lau Kahalu'u, O'ahu Being Legislative Apprentices was a great experience for us. We learned how the State Government works. Working with the legislature taught us things we would never have learned in school. We met influential people and made a lot of new friends. a We were treated like adults, not like , students in a school program. If we didn't know the answer to a question, it was never f hard to find. There was no such thing as a Z l S dumb question. We learned about government. W Q . . l ly ,.. Bus pals: not just another 'ohana Those of us who live on the boonie side of O'ahu, the ones who get to ride on the North Shore Bus, are very lucky because we derive the added benefit of belonging to another special family: the North Shore Ohana. We share our secrets and experi- ences and help each other out. Mr. Hubbard is our guardian angel. He's been our driver for many years, always in black shades, and blue jacket, always with his cigar and no expression on his face as he maneuvers through morning traffic and around the Pupukea hairpin. Even when we yell so loud he can't hear his K-65, or through the six-dozenth bus breakdown, he's never left us. fExcept that once: and we all silently prayed he'd return, and he did. Thank goodnessj. Getting up at 4:30 a.m. to catch his bus - our bus - is almost worth it. .lan Keola Melelai Janimo Lazarus Wai'anae, O'ahu Brenda Kala'iokamanu Lee Kane'ohe, O'ahu David V ThomasL Kaimuki, O'ahu
