the energetic chinese club worked all year to preserve chi- nese culture as practiced in ha- wai'i, and to be of school and public service whenever possi- ble. club members participated in many events including a famous amos cookie sale, a nar- cissus growing contest, and a do jay Ithank youj day. in may, they held a cookielau, and graduating seniors enjoyed a special june treat: a 9 course banquet. during the year, the club produced a monthly news- letter called chopsticks'j and it provided change for a dollar to students wishing to use the vending machines. membership was open to all, regardless of ethnic background or ability to speak chinese.
