13- Year Seniors thirteen years ago, fifty priviledged youngsters became the very first members of kamehameha 3 class of nineteen eighty three. at that time, the vietnam war was still in progress, rock 'n' roll was at its peak, and demonstrations were still common occurances on college campuses. but for many of us, none of those were important. what was fore- most on our minds was being left alone in kindergarden by our parents. now that was traumatic and most significant to us. as the thirty-seven of us who yet remain at kameha- meha assembled for this last picture, we couldn 't help but reminisce about the days we spent together in elementary. there were those restless nap times which we couldn 't wait to lea ve behind but wish we had in high school. we learned the family style of eating which included a waiter and host for each table. makahiki was thrilling when we tinall y got to participate and demonstrate some of the traditions of old hawai'i. chapel was an earlier version of ekalasia except with a choir and candle lighters. founders day was different too. as Hfth graders, we performed for the kinder- garden through sixth grades and honored our founder at the same time. the most memorable event was staying at camp makapala in sixth grade.f each night one group of students entertained the rest of us with songs or skits. those were the good old days which we will always hold dear in our hearts along with the joy, sadness, and frustra- tions of growing up. we will forever appreciate each other because of the memories we share and we thank kameha- meha for giving us each other and allowing us to grow, learn and remember together. ...-1? ti x -Y ww ---.W .M as, top: mikela mckeown takes a look around before plunging down the sliding board. bottom-1 I brad chang, laurie lee, gay mur- akami, wendy markel, joel camacho,, william shir- oma, scott ahuna. 22 maile uu, stewart martin, robin pang, camm y napoleon, nathan uyehara, emmit kane, james liu. 32 arletta johnson, dale price, peter donnelly, herbert kealoha, catherine kamau, cheryl kaanoi, deena arnold, nau- paka spillner. 290 seniors
