varsity volleyball m the girls ' varsity volleyball team competed in an up and down season, they blocked pun- ahou to keep their second place title in the i.l.h. in their two hour practices each day they perfected skills under the guid- ance of kuuipo lum and winston lum. they were a young team with four seniors, three juniors, three sophomores, and two freshmen, they only had four returning varsity players - kathy hong, ferol martin, miulii heine, and moana spotkaef. they strived for perfection in every game they played, their stron- gest opponents were punahou and u.h. left: 1) moana spotkaef, malu chow. 2) kathy hong (captain), niulii heine, ferol martin, devini kaniaupio, cheryl mizu- moto. 3) kuuipo lum (coach), reydan ahuna, lisanne kaupu, aulani kauhane, leianne akau, lisa pestrello, winston lum (coach), below left: reydan ahuna gets up to the net for the dink, below: mary apo dinks the ball over the net. volleyball 181
