Social Studies In today's rapidly changing world, students need a basic social studies background to understand the problems of the present, past, and future. This year a new social studies program, American Thought and Practice, was introduced, calling for individual research work and giving students the opportunity to express their ideas freely. An elective course, Great Ideas, offered seniors an additional opportunity to explore the philosophies of the great men of the world. Imagination, feeling, and creativity are three attributes that Kamehameha's artists combined to produce their many masterpieces. Working with various media which included ceramics, oils, charcoal, wood, and water colors, interested students acquired great degrees of skill that they will put to future use. Mathematics Math is one of the most fundamental elements of a high school education, for it enables students to think clearly, logically, and methodically. This year, a new mathematics program, UICSM, was introduced at Kamehameha. It was offered to students at the Preparatory Department as well as to students of the Upper Schools. In this way, it gave the students an early, yet excellent founda- tion for future learning. Can you beat that? Marty did his homework! MISS LILLIAN Well, it looked easy. NAKAMA KSB 2, ..
