I wi We X I gfwtj KW To the Class of 1965 Our nation needs men and women of courage and daring . . . creative and resourceful people who do not spend time thinking of reasons why a job cannot be done but who get on with it and solve the problem at hand. America needs a generation of people' young in spirit who ask first about the challenge and last about retirement benefits. We need people who are willing to sacrifice a few personal com- forts to support personal convictions. We need people willing to invest in themselves. By that I mean individuals who will continue to learn, to improve their skills, to maintain healthy bodies and to grow morally and spiritually stronger throughout their lifetime. We need adventurous people . . . ones with imagination, curiosity and perseverance . . . people who do not fear failures but who learn from them and emerge with strengthened character. There is a great need for people of positive action and little demand for negative spectators. As graduates of The Kamehameha Schools I earnestly hope that you will appreciate the responsibilities which go with your diploma. Those who preceded you will be watching with interest to see what contributions you will make to your people, your community, your state and country. Those who follow will be looking to you for direction and leadership. It is my belief that neither group will be disappointed in you.
