« Ka Moi Ka Moi, which means the King is a bi-weekly publication of the students of The Kainehameha Schools and is a chapter of the International Quill and Scroll. Combining pinpoint reporting with precise information, they have tried to bring into focus the many activities and functions in and around The Kameha- meha Schools. The purposes of this society are to improve oral English and to recognize students who have excelled in spoken English throughout the year. Students were selected for the Masque and Gavel on the basis of their perfor- mances in radio work, deputation teams, plays, and oratorical contests. They also needed higfli grades in speech attitude on their report cards. Prospective members, upon the recommendation of Mr. Robert Ritterhoff, Masque and Gavel Society adviser, must be officially approved by members of the English depart- ment of both schools before being finally admitted to the Society.
