Saturday, November 7, we start out bright and early for our trip to state. With the MEMORIES of all the practice to make perfect! On this day so cold and windy, we load up our flags and things, feeling like WORKING CLASS DOGS in the scurry of the morning. ON THE ROAD AGAIN filled with excitement and ready to do our final show of the season. After the long ride we get out of the buses, grab a bite and get dressed. Then it's time to get PHYSICAL, stretching muscles we never knew we had! It's getting closer to show time so we have our pep talk and prayer when Mr. Myers says DON'T STOP BELIEVIN'. Out on the field we pass the 45 yard line and you might say we're the STARS ON 45. After we've shown what we've got, we climb into the stands and SOONER OR LATER they will announce the results. The results come in and like they say THE WINNER TAKES IT ALL! We received an excellent! Now it's back on the buses to Kalida we go and we all agree it's time to CELEBRATE!!! Those blue flags are really a problem. How to get out there and feed 'em To all 37 horns out there on the field So we imported help from Sweden. Next week it's off to Fairborn To try to qualify for State. We had four seconds to spare on the clock. And the show was really great. We climbed into the visitors' stands To wait and listen and hear We saw some bands we'd never seen And Jeff picked up a souvenir. We couldn't stay for the results you see We had another show that night. So back in the busses, and hit the road Off to McDonald's for a bite. Everybody was cold at Arcadia Both the girls and the fellas And when the results came back from Fairborn Myers wouldn't tell us. So we lined up, went out on the field Freezing on the exterior But the announcer warmed us up when he said The rating was a Superior. We're going to state, but before we do that There are other obligations to fill So back in the busses, heading south. This time it's off to Brookville. We won our class thought it was good But Myers thought it was sour. He told us so on Monday and I think We stood at attention for an hour. So we worked hard to improve the show that week We were busy little birds. The show improved 100 percent. Only to come in third. Now it's to State — ain't it great! Who knows what the future holds Just hope we can remember in Columbus All that we've been told. Before I close I have to say And I speak for my wife, too, without jest. We scream and yell and work you hard But we really think you're the best! — Charles Myers 11
