They showed us that in the future, Kallda High School will have a team that will give every team In the county some strong opposition. The team's record for this year was 7 wins and 5 losses. Inexperience was the team's major drawback. The Junior High Tournament was held at Continental. Our Junior High was defeated by Continental with a score of 31 to 15. GIRLS' INTRAMURALS The girls' league consisted of six teams claying a double elimination tournament. The teams were captained by: J. Schwalger, J. Unverferth, R. Unver-ferth, D. Verhoff, J. Rimer, and H. Clark. Although Julie Unverferth's team was favored. It was defeated In the final game by Joanna Schwalger's mighty six. The score was 12 to 10. A volley ball league was also organized by the girls. There were seven teams caotalned by 0. Sarka E. Wurth, J. Recker, B. McElwain, D. Holtkamp, E. Unverferth, L. Geckle. The results of this tournament cannot be published, as this paper goes topress before the tournament Is completed. varsity cheer leaders (Left to right): Dorothy Holtkamp, Joan 3ehrns, Bob Mead, Helen Clark, Dorothy Fortman. But this would not do Justice to the boys who oartlcloated and gave all they had in honor of their school. Our season's record was 6 wins and 12 losses. Ottawa Parochial defeated Kallda in the Tournament at Leinsic with a score of 48 to 36. Besides doing their very best against all on-oositlon and giving all they had, the boys also learned how to be better snortsmen. This in itself is really the biggest benefit one can derive from athletics. BOYS INTRAMURAL BASKETBALL The boys intramural basketball tournament consisted of eight teams. These teams were caDtalned by L ldy, rurth, V arnement, Sybert, Stechschulte, Verhoff, Erhart, and Osterhage. Since there was double elimination each team had to be defeated twice before they were out of the tournament. The result was, Stechschulte came out the chara-nlon after defeating Osterhage in the finals. RESERVE BASKETBALL PLAYERS (Left to right) Robert Osterhage, Leo Kllngshlrn, Robert Schulte, Charles Berheide, Charles Verhoff, Albert Warne-ment, Alfred Horstraan, Hubert Ricker, Virgil Wurth, Tim McElwain. The Reserve Basketball team won very few games which was mainly due to lack of experience. The Duroose of the glee club Is to develop In the girls who are members, an appreciation of good music and a love of singing. By singing all types of songs, both popular and classical, the girls In the glee club learn that It Is possible to enjoy many kinds of music. The glee club also provides the girls with a chance to Improve their voices. Their glee club training is something which will help the girls after they are out of school because they will be able to sing for their own enjoyment and also will be able to enjoy musical programs to a greater extent. A the beginning of the school, the glee club had two periods of practicing during a week. After they were quite well prepared for the Festival, they gave up one period so the Band could have an extra period for practicing. The glee club, under the direction of Miss Bigler has developed quite a lot of talent among our high school girls. Out of this group, nine have been chosen for an ensemble. Their talent, as a singing group, was shown at the Soring Music Festival. Those taking part In the program are the Band, Nlnetet, Glee Club, a trio, and a variety of solos. The Glee Club will present a number of pieces which will be followed by two selections of the Nlnetet. The trumpet trio and the variety of solos will show the individual talent of our band members. They have worked hard to help to make the festival a success which I am sure it will be. The finale of the evening will be various numbers given by the High School Band. This year the band was working on the forming of letters and maneuvering on the gym floor at basketball games. It took periods of practicing but we Were rewarded by the generous applause we received from the spectators. 730 SLNIOR CLASS PLAY It seems that as a young man, Ethan Storm became a world-famoue violinist. At one of hie most Important concerts his left hand fell limply to his side. He was never able to play more than a few raeas- urea at a time. After that lllnnle Brill (Dorothy Verhoff), Miss Storm's housekeeper, keeps Insisting that her osychic sense tells her that somebody will be murdered. Minnie tries to warn Oayla and she Is murdered. Sally suspects Peters (Louie Oeterhage), Miss Storm's butler, of being behind all the ghostly business because he has arthritis In his left hand and she thinks he Is Ethan Storm himself. Crazy Nell (Esther Holtkamp) a woman wpo thinks she Is a walking cadaver,- enters several times and tells them how nice It Is to be dead. Ell Gandy (Ben Erhart) , the village sheriff, thinks there Is something unusual going on and so has come to make sure Miss Storm doesn't get hurt. In her reward circulars, Sally reads of a certain Butch and Daley Dorgan who are both wanted for robbery. When she reads the name Butch Dorgan, Miss Storm drops her scissors. Hal tries to i point out to Sally that this might mean that she knows Butch or Daisy. Sally doesn't think a thing like that Is possible but she does think that perhaps Peters might be Butch. Oayla's father, Ned Jorlan (Elmer Ellerbrock) has been released from Drlson Intending to kill Agnes, his wife, who Is dead. He sees Oayla dressed In her mother's wedding gown and thinks It Is Agnes. He wants to kill her and yet he doesn't have the nerve. So Oayla explains who she Is and takes Ned upstairs to rest. While Hester Is doing her mending, Sally discovers a scar on her forehead lust like the one described on the circular about Daisy Dorgan. And she has a spot on her right elbow where a mole might have been removed. Hester then admits that she Is Daisy Dorgan and the sheriff Is Butch. The real Mias Storm (Ruth Unverferth) enters and tell8 how she was taken captive. Butch find Daisy wanted to get rid of Oayla because if she would die Nell, who isn't crazy at all but really Miss Storm's housekeeper, would Inherit allof'the Storm'6 money and since Nell and Daley were sisters, Daisy threatened to kill Nell If she didn't hand the money over to hfer. Quickly Daisy grabs a small bottle out of her sewing bag which she says contains nltro-glycerln and says If Hal doesn't hand over the gun that he took from Butch, she will drop the bottle and blow up the house. String knocks the bottle out of Hester's hand and finds It is only turpentine. Discouraged and afraid of going to the chair, Butch and Daisy Jump out of the French windows and down off the cliff. This 18 more than Sally can stand and fearing that he has driven her crazy, Hal explains that It was all a setting for his play and a plan to cure her of her detective urge.
