Under the direction ol' Wil- fred Kusaka, the band sacrificed their time on wednesdays and sundays during the summer to diligently practice their routines. Led by drum major Scott Goto and drum major- ette Tammie Omoto, the band participated in the Aloha week and Kintetsu Parades. During the school year, the band spent many hours after school perfecting their routines for the Rainbow Festival and OIA Competition. The band pro- vided music for assembleys and commencement exercises. They also played for Basketball and football games, and put on a marching show for the Homecoming Game. Toward the end of the year, the band split into the Wind Ensemble l, consisting of juniors and Seniors, and the Wind Ensemble 2, consisting of Freshmen and Sophomores, for the purpose of performing classical music onstage, There was also the stage band, a group created to perform jazzy repertoires. liach received a chance to display their talents in the Winter and Aloha concerts and in the Parade of Bands.
