Flex those muscles and bend those knees! Nothing like good physical exercise to keep healthy and trim. Health and Physical Education is re- quired of all Sophomores. The course in- cludes a class study of health problems and practices, individual sports and games, stunts and tumbling, rhythm and dance fundamentals, and intramural sports. An active intramural sports program was organized this year to run through the en- tire school year. Students met after school almost every day of the week to participate in flag football, volleyball, tennis, basket- ball and other competitive sports. Tin Yau Goo Biology The Science curriculum at Kaimuki was extended this year with additional classes in Biology and a new course in the Physical Sciences. The Science courses in Biology, Aviation Science, Physical Science, Chemistry and Physics aim to give the student a basic understanding of his relationship to other living things and to give an exploratory yet comprehensive view of the different general fields of science. Projects for the Hawaiian Science Fair were plan- ned and worked out under the guidance- of our science teachers. The projects selected indicated a wide and deep interest in matters of science. Grade A broiler chickens at 60 cents a pound! Tender young corn and green beans at bargain prices! The cafeteria and faculty were steady customers of the vocational agri- culture boys. General Agriculture courses are open to students with an interest in plant science and Vocational Agriculture courses emphasize veg- etable gardening, poultry, swine and dairy farming techniques. The Kaimuki Chapter FFA hosted the Dis- trict FFA conference on our campus and at- tended the Territorial Conference at Hilo. Future homemakers were enrolled in classes in Clothing, Foods and Nutrition and Home- making. Industrial Arts courses offered classes in Mechanical Drawing, Electricity and Radio, General Metal Work and Woodwork.
