S. basket ball girls started the season right last Friday, winning from Gorm 21-6. The teamwork this year is far superior to any that the girls have shown for a long time. Daggs and Hanan were shooting accurately and very few shots were missed. Aileen Ball was hitting the ball every time to Ruth Rauscher, who showed her speed at running center. Dot McKee and Franke Shepard were holding down the Gorin forward to a ve-ry few shots as one can see from the fact that only three field goals were made. Neva Atherton and Alice Kearns were substituted for Franke Shepard and Mabel Hanan in the fourth quarter and although the time was short, they showed up well. Lancaster Girls Victorious Over Kahoka The Lancaster girls defeated Kahoka girls in one of the fastest games ever played on the home court. Daggs and Hanan played a star game for the locals. 'Dhe Kahoka girls were leading at the end of the first half but were unable to keep it, the final score being 2-1-16 in favor of Lancaster. Lancaster There Un Wednesday, Oct. 11, the girls' basket ball team lost to Lancaster by the score of 16-17. The game was very rough and exceedingly fast. The Kahoka girls displayed some wonderful team work and accurate goal shooting. Although the Lancaster girls were much larger than the Kalroka girls, they failed to show up as well in team work. The weather was also very cold which in a way handicapped the girls as they drowe' to Lancas- ter in cars. arriving about twenty minutes before the game. The Kahoka girls have a splendid team this year, with Aileen Ball. jumping center: Ruth Rauscher, running center: Dorothy McKee, guard: Franke Shepard, guardg Neva Atherton, guardg Edna Daggs, forward: Alice Kearns, forward. and Mabel Hanan, for- ward. Mr. Hollar and Miss Rolle are giving all their spare time for the betterment of the team. Downing There The K. H. S. basket. ball girls were defeated by a very small margin at Downing. The game was close all the way through. At times K. H. S. would lead and then the Downing girls would show a spurt of speed and gain the lead. The team work of the K. ll. S. girls was one of the noticeable features of the game. Aileen tapped the hall to Ruth and from Ruth the ball went to Edna or Alice who, although they were closely guarded made good their field goal attempts. lt seemed inevitable that our girls would win but a turn of fate caused our luck to change in 'the last part of the last half and when the final whistle blew the score stood 25-18 in favor of Downing. Gorin at Kahoka The Iiahoka girl's basket ball team swamped the Gorin High School team in a clean fast and interesting game on the home court Friday, October 27. Although the score was rather one-sided, the game was interesting. The Kahoka girls had some splendid te-am work and certainly displayed some accurate goal shooting. The game ended with a 35-17 score in favor of Kahoka. ln the last. half Mr. Hollar made several substitutions in or- der to give everyone a chance. Wayland Kahoka defeated Wayland by a score 19-5. Granger There The girls were very unfortunate in being beaten by a score of 26 to 11, probably due to the fact that Granger had a regular Southpaw for a guard and a giant forward at the other end. The Kahoka girls played hard and did the best they could, and it is not much of a disgrace to be beaten by such a giant team as they were. Granger Here The glrls' game started and the score almost tied. Our voices on the side lines were exerted to their fullest capacity. Team work was played by our forwards better than
