Q L . , 5- K - 2 JAW HISTORY 0F THE FRESHMAN CLASS In September, 1914, about thirty young people started to sehool under the super- vision of Miss Lntie Lehew. It was our first step toward sehooling and we were bashful. For several weeks Lueile Gray followed the teaeher everywhere she went. She was with us for several weeks then one day she fell from a horse and broke her arm and was com- pelled to quit sehool. That year elosed a11d several pupils dropped out on aeeount of siekness and grades. The ones that remained that started in the first grade are Floyd Blum, Roberta Bostie, llelen Morris. Imogene llunn, lVard Gregory, Dale Mt-Kee, James llridges, Howard llroomhall, XVilbur and Wilma Boone, Mildred tluttiug, Annetta Donaldson and Sarah Marie llall. ln September, 1915. we entered the second grade with enthusiasm. There were several new students and a 11ew teaeher, Miss Younger. Une of the new students was Vlariee Milligan. a elassmate of ours now. Most of us had the measles and st-arred faees as the slide and giant stride was very new and all of us tried it. The year soon passed and most ot' us were ready to enter the third grade. The following September we entered the third grade and met our new teaeher, Miss Perry tMrs. l'1d. Martini and several new students. Among them was Alva Glasseoek. We had a big Thanksgiving program that yea1'. In the fourth grade we met Miss Helen Niehols as team-her. and Zelma Bogener and Velma Yeager as new students. The new sehool building was being ererted and as it was not eompleted we were lot-ated in the old High S1-hool. The last of tl1e year we moved to our new building. That f'lll'lSilll2lS we presented Sc-ro.:ge's t'hristmas. That spring we all made wash rags for the boys who were serving for the nations eause. ln the fifth grade we were under the supervision of Miss .less Watson. We were joined by August lilbe, William Potts and Asa liusse. XVe spent a very enjoyable term. The influenza was very bad that winter and we were eompelled to wear masks. We presented a part of The liird's l'll1'lSlIlitlS f'll1'01 to oltain llltPllt Y to help buv a virtrola for the sehool. In the sixth grade we met Miss Iflllingston tMrs. John llifflel as our teacher and met three new sehoolmates. Louise Mohr, Gertrude Atherton and Margaret Barrows. That fall the seventh grade. under the supervision of Adelle lflllingston, and our elass went to Big Roek on a pienie. In the seventh grade we mer Miss Evans, who was our teaeher in the seventh and eighth grades. There was nothing espeeially happened that year. only the eireus eame rr town and we were dismissed that afternoon. A good many ot' ns were v-aught throwing notes whieh were read before the elass before being thrown into the waste basket. The next year we were joined by Maurine l-'ett and Uval llolmes. We had a elass party, and a program was given at the last of the year to obtain money for the speaker lor our graduation. We graduated in May, 1922. In September. 1922, we were ready to enter tl1e High School as l l'0Slll1lt'll. Some of the pupils did not enter as many diffieulties stood in their way. We were joined by lieryl Merril-k. lfern Ilarris, Edward Young, Paul Luber and l'hilip Miller. Hur elass now eonsists of thirty-one. A bantpiet was soon given by the Sophomores in our honor. Several weeks later we entertained the Sophomoreswitha party. We spent a very happy term, and we are hoping we may all meet as Sophomores nex! vear. ll. H. and Z. 15.
