The gymnastics team welcomed many new members this year. With the invitation they took the challenge to teach the difficult routines to the novice gymnasts. Since both teams were made up of mainly new members, dedication and teamwork were needed to prepare for the upcoming competitions. The gymnasts used their abilities to work together to form two strong teams. The Junior Varsity team, made up mainly of new members, worked well with coach Sharon Boss and assistant Kathy Taylor in learning the routines and competing. The gymnasts placed first and second in their first two meets and are expected to do very well in league competition. The Varsity team, featuring two optional gymnasts, Laurene Walker and Julie Cox, is, one of the best teams ever , said coach Cindy Hutchison. The Varsity team competing compulsory routines consisted of only four members. These girls worked extremely hard, competing all around, in order to produce a full team. Even though this might be the last year for Serra's gym- nastics team, The gymnasts performed superbly, made lasting friendships, and made this last year count.
