olleyball: A Smash Uver Volleyball was a smash in the Western League. With excel- lent team work added to exceptional individual effort, Ser- ra's volleyball teams showed what they were made of in the Western League. The Varsity team was involved in many different city and county events. Some of these were their exceptional performance in the Hilltop tournament when they took first place. They also did well in the city finals where they took second place and in league games where they placed third. Although volleyball is a team sport where everyone works as a unity for the benefit of the team, there were some special players who do deserve some extra credit. One of these was Lisa Freedie who was voted most valuable player. Varsity was powered and coached by Coach Robbie Cole, who went as far as to say that this was her strongest team . This year's junior varsity team was coached by Coach Kris Mallory. Because of their excellence, Serra's Volleyball team placed High in the C.I.F. standings. ,l ...Q-....-.......... . 40 Volleyball .
