Days before the game, each team assembled to learn plays and strategy from their coaches. All the girls anxiously awaited the big day when they could prove which was the better team. Posters were put up around school and seniors were quoted as saying, Quality counts, not quantity, referring to the siz of their team. Seniors had fun the night proir to the game when they toilet papered juniors' houses and put shaving cream on cars saying, 'SENIORS RULE. The eventful day finally rolled around and team members wore football jerseys. At promptly 4:30 PM., the game began. The juniors offense managed to reach the one-yard line twice, but just couldn't score. The seniors defensive line held back many plays until the third quarter, when Caroline Borden got a safety to score two points for the junior team. The fourth quarter was uneventful and the final score was 2-O in favor the juniors. Both teams did an outstanding job with help from their student coaches and lovely cheerleaders. ,ggi 80 Athletics

Going For A Flip Swim Team Flops r Stroke, stroke, stroke, was a familiar word for the i t boys swimming team as they practiced every morning from six to eight at the Copley YMCA. All efforts were not in vain, however, as the team won against Lincoln and tied against Mira Mesa. Coach Don Wadsworth supervised the swimmers and stated that the whole team tried hard but the competition was much too stiff. Bo Straub and Paul i Guay proved to be the best swimmers but the others were close behind. The swim team hopes that their record will be better next year. Swimming 79
