Driving For Goal, Q's Got Trapped Under the coaching expertise of Richard Domaille the soccer team gained respect and recognition from all schools for bein a team that played hard but fairly. A majority of the pllayers had previous experience but the ones that did not got on easily and made the team one that was not only strong but a co-operating one. Although the season ended in 9-8, a lose by just a couple of points. Under the recent ruling of Title IX girls were able to participate in the sport for the first time. Teresa Jones did try out and made J.V. When asked if she felt discriminated Teresa replied, No, not at all, they treat me as a equal. All of the soccer players are looking forward to a better win record next year and hopes that more prac- tise will help them be one of the leading contenders of the western league. Netters Set ' p, Spiked Opponents Spike, bump and set, were just some of the words Coach Vera Powell and Sharon Boss called out to their teams during a game. Both varsity and J .V. did extremely well and made other established teams work hard in order to earn points. Over thirty girls first tried out but only seventeen made the teams. Linda West proved to be the most outstanding player and went on to play in the all-star game. In starting a new tradition, a gold medal was given to the best varsity player and a silver medal was given to the best J.V. player. The award helped the girls to play their best. Vollevball 55
