C. C. Team Ran Shorto Title The first year was not as good as hoped for but, the SHS cross country team did okay with guidance of Coach Bob Oliver. Everyday after school the team met and ran between six and eight miles. The hours and hours of hard work paid off as varsity ended with a record of 2-6 and the JV season record was 3-5. Two losses were by margins of only one and two points, proving that they were a team which could not be taken lightl . The joint eftkbrt of guys and gals helped in the team victories. At the end of the season Tracy South and Jerry Wilson won an award for being the most dedicated. The team is looking forward to an improved season next year. Cross Coutry 49

The race is on as Kent Long picks up his stride and heads towards the finish line. 5. Gene Maples enjoys a practice run as the sun sets behind him. 6. With a look of despair, Stan Hutchinson staggers to thefinish. 7. Speed is the name of the game, as Jerry Wilson races the clock. 8.
