Barefoot Dancers Not Christmas was celebrated by holding a Snow Ball, Serra's first dance, in the newly-opened gymnasium. Since the gym hadn't been available during Newcoming week, Queen Roberta Ott and her lovely Princesses were honored at the dance. In this way, the Snow Ball was a dual Newcoming and Christmas festivity. Through the efforts of a talented decorating committee, the gym was transformed into a Christ- mas wonderland. Red, green, and white crepe paper cascaded from the ceiling in the form of huge domes, under which couples could dance. Cook VII was the featured band, and students eagerly danced to its tunes throughout the evening. Despite early complaints of dancing in bare feet on the new gym floor, the dance was a big success.
