Music Concerts Set Assemblies Two assemblies among those held at Serra were the winter choral concert and Godspell . Both were very enjoyable productions and each was unique in its own way. The winter choral concert was Serra's first musical performance, and it was very en- couragingl to see the self-discipline and appre- ciation s own on the part of the audience. The performing groups were the Advanced Band, directed by Mr. Lyle Stone, and three choruses: Beginning, Intermediate, and Senior, under the direction of Mr. Lorin Getline. Christmas-related songs sung by the chorus- es included Baby, Baby, What Are You Going To Be? , Do You Hear What I Hear? , and If Christ- mas Isn't Love . Others included Soft Rain , Day by Day , and Fruitcake , which recieved a standing ovation. There were two day performances and another for parents at night. Soloists in the Choral presentations were Crystal Armstrong and Laura I-lowland. Both musicians and vocalists did a greatjob. 'Godspell' was presented by a touring company from the University of Redlands, and was enjoyed and appreciated by the audience. It was a modernized, musical version of the Gospel of Matthew. Highlights of the musical were scenes depicting the crucifixion of Jesus and the Last Supper. H-W-. .v... . 2 5.
