Flrst Year Of School Among the many activities organized by the Foreign Affairs Club, one was to provide financial aid to students wishing to paritcipate in study trips and home stays to such countries as Mexico, France and Germany. Other activities included planning social events and field trips for their group. The students' main purpose, during this first year, was to promote the study of modem languages, further understanding of other people's cultures, and establish rapport between the students of various languages. The French-Spanish Club was a group within the Foreign Affairs Club. They worked with and as a part of the larger club, although their area of con- centration included only the languages of French and Spanish. The group consisted of approximately fifteen members with the majority being students of Spanish. The advisors are hoping that next years' trunout will be larger and that the club will do more. ,J 1' fra X u f r., ta ff l Q Z 1 4 I .4 I- ' + 7 i 3 French-Spanish, Foreign Affairs 1 01

Fillet Fishers Speckled Student Body M This year's Rifle Club was just the beginning. Shooting was a hobby for the members, and competing with other schools never happened. Next year the members will be split into varsity and junior varisty teams. They will no longer be a club but instead they will be one of the many C.l.F. teams representing our school. The Running Club was made up of 7th and Sth grade runners, the junior varsity and varsity Cross Country team, and the junior varsity and varsity track squad. Coaches Robert Oliver and Stephen Haiman were the advisors of the club. The club's main emphasis was to improve the level of physical fitness in the student body at Serra. Although they didn't get started until the second semester, the Fishing Club managed to do quite well. Car washes were planned to help raise money for fishing trips. Meetings were held to plan such extracurricular activities. The club's advisor, Mr. John Brickley, helped the club get as much out of this year as possible.
