Student Participation Involved Serra had a very bouncy and energetic group that praticed everyday after school. If you haven't guessed, these words described the junior varsity cheerleaders. The J.V. pep squad was selected during the second quarter because of Serra not having a Varsity football team. However this handicap didn't stop the J.V. cheerleaders from doing an execellent job. Within a limited amount of time the J.V. pep squad successfully made their own uniforms they also created the majority of their own cheers and song routines with only minimal assistance from the varsity cheerleaders and their assistant Miss Kemp. The J.V. pep squad also participated fully in rallies and attended all J.V. basketball games with an abundance of spirit. Other J.V. athletic teams were also supported by the squad. Cheering to Clowning Around Many zany students had the opportunity to act like complete clowns. All of the members in the club were required to design their own face make-up and put together their own costumes. Also juggling and puppetry were mastered by a majority of club members. Serfs clowns were very active in both community and school services. Clowns helped in Doris Millers annual camival and aided in the opening of the New Tierrasanta Town Center. The clowns also served as guides at the dedication of our new school. Another fun activity that the clownology club did was to learn how to give bith- day parties. The speech team participated in many speech toumnaments including Fullerton and Patrick Henry. Readers Theater gave 7th and 8th graders a chance to participate in the Arts. The club put on many performances, primarily Dr. Seuss stories. 1. Hey crowd, Yeah..Introduce yourselves! 2. Front Row: Sandy Yamak, Lori Fleischman, Barbara Curiel.
