14 m mmm Dedication to a cause, fifty years of dedication; this is the essence of Bro. Richard Stauble. Bro. Richard was born in Louis- ville, Kentucky. In Dayton, Ohio, on March 31, -1918, he pro- fessed his vows as a Marianist. He has devoted his life to Christ by helping his fellow man. He taught grade school for forty- five years in Brooklyn, Washington, D. C, Pittsburgh, San Fran- cisco, and Hawaii. During the last four years, he has rendered his services as a general handyman and maintenance supervisor here at Serra. The El Padre, and all of Serra High School, would like to extend their congratulations and thanks to BROTHER RICHARD STAUBLE on his Fiftieth Anniversary of service to the Society of Mary.

lifi IUA Before arriving at Serro High School in 1961, Mr. Charles Donovan had taught at Riordon, the Marianist High School in Son Francisco. After this assignment he undertook the task of achieving an advanced degree at La Sorbonne, the famous Universite ' de Paris. Beginning his new assign- ment at Serro, he taught language, his specialty in the education field, and since then has continued to teach French along with Latin. Under his supervision and through his efforts, the French Club sent one of its members to France on a study-tour plan in the summer of 1965. He was moderator of the EL PADRE one year. At present he is chairman of the language department, moderator of the C. S.F. and French Club, and a member of the Principal ' s Council. But in the eyes of Serro students this is not Mr. Donovan To them he is the French-Latin teacher in 1 1 -C; the teacher who makes every class, on every school day of the year, an adventure and an enjoyable ex- perience; the teacher who makes them satisfied when they leave his class, because they know that they hove learned something; the teacher to whom many Seniors haven ' t spoken English since Freshman year. Passing on knowledge is his greatest joy, and a smile covers his face whenever he realizes that a student has grasped a new understanding of Latin or French. Students recognize him as an excellent teacher and that is why he is held in such high esteem. Because of his unique qualities, he commands the highest respect from both students and faculty at Serro High School, and it is a privilege to hove him here Therefore, it is an honor to dedicate the 1968 EL PADRE to Mr. Charles Donovan.

Man must meet man, nation meet nation, as brothers and sisters, as children of God. In this mutual understanding and friendship, we must also begin to work together to build the common future of the human race. Pope Paul VI
