The Girls' Club was off to a good start this year with the Freshmen girls being treated to a delicious turkey dinner at the annual Big and Little Sister Banquet held on November 7. The theme. Getting to Know You , was carried out through the evening, and was very appropriate for the occasion. Christmas just wouldn't be Christmas around J-Hi without the girl's Christmas tree on the second floor. As beautiful as ever, it stood for the last time in the old J-Hi halls. h The piggy-bank of the Girls' Club was reimbursed by candy and pop sales during t e year. . . . here comes the food! 6 Q. i -J Not three, but four blind mice! Drawing on the paper covered walls brought out the artistic ability of J-Hi. The sound of the band no longer echoes through the halls of old J-Hi. However, it can be found in the new multicolored, soundproof bandroom. Under the direction of Mr. Gunison, the band performed in the annual Christmas concert and in April had as their guest, Raphael Mendez. Championship crown, Coach Ordway's Crimson Bears, with six returning letter- men, set out to defend the title against all comers. With an average, height of 6 ft., and a fast, hard- running team and playing most of their games on home ground, they made up a hard-to-beat combina- tion when tournament time rolled around at Edge- combe in the spring. The Bears not only had the ability, they had the will and the drive to win. This team, certainly one of the best in J-Hi's history, had a fine season. The pause . . . ow ing The J-Hi Rollers had a rough time this year, because of repair work on the Elks Bowling Alleys, but they still had a good year under Pres. Ed. Loidhammer: Vice-Pres. David Pearson, Sec. Treas. Mary Car- penter and club advisor Harold jeffrey. Out of the 46 members, a large per cent are Freshmen and Sophomores because they received P.E. credit for bowling. 1'-lip... Q HQ' D5 .. E FRONT ROW: L. Willis,,S. Cole, B. Buik, J. Soboleff, L. BOARD OF DIRECTORS Deep snow and slush made this year's ski season rather intermittent, but, under the able leadership of Judy Pym, club president, and Peter Bibb, advisor, the J-Hi skiers had lots of skiing and racing practice. An intramural program was set up by the Board of Directors, making instruction and racing possible for everyone. Another new item was the addition of the Junior Ski Patrol. Mr. Darnell and his group of skiers kept the tow running, guarded the hill, and helped with emergencies. The warming hut, nearing completion, proved the big undertaking of the year. It provided extra warmth and a good view of the slopes for weary skiers. All in all, the Ridge Runners are still enthusiastic skiers and their happy greeting is Ski Heil.
