The school shall strive to balance the educational program to insure wholesome, all-around development of the individual with provision for the stimulation and develop- ment of all children's talents. MR. RAYMOND WAIER Mr. Waier, our superintendent, has fulfilled his second year at Jt. District 11. As more problems face our dis- trict each year, the inevitable pres- sures keep mounting on his shoulders. Aside from the many hours spent in seeking solutions to our problems, both large and small, he always has time for most of us--time to inspire us to higher ideals and to broader knowledge. 18 MR. NORMAN DAHL Mr. Dahl, Juneau High School prin- cipal for twenty-one years, has been a vital personality in JHS tradition. Hold- ing faculty meetings, making announce- ments, frowning upon bad boys and girls, and attending WIAA meetings are only a few of his many and varied duties. Without his leadership and guidance, many of the honors and knowledge be- stowed upon JHS students would not have been possible. He doesn’t mind helping people with individual problems. Seniors can tell you this when college time rolls around. Administrators Contribute Leadership MR. GEORGE KNUCKLES For the first time in our district's history, an assistant superintendent has been hired to assist our chief ad- ministrator, Mr. Waier. Finishing his first year at Joint District 11, he 1ms shown genuine understanding for and interest in all projects set before him by the students, faculty, and Mr. Waier. CLASS OF’69 Juneau High students find themselves with certain basic hopes and obligations as they progress through school. One of the most important is making their particular class one of which they may be proud by fulfilling their individual duties. A superior class features scholastic improvement along with active participation by each pupil in I class-sponsored activities. We believe that the success of the entire high school is very dependent upon each student’s desire to make his class an improvement over the I one before it. FRONT ROW: W. Zwieg, S. Wolfram, D. On September 1, 1967, sixty stu- dents walked through the doors of JHS to begin their Junior year. As soon as possible, class rings were selected and Juniors awaited anx- iously for their arrival. A feeling of pride came when they received a first place rating in both the float and window competition for Home- coming. It will be remembered always as a highlight of their Junior year. Participating in a magazine cam- paign and sponsoring a carnival to raise money for their biggest and final event of their year, The Junior-Senior Prom, highlighted the year's activity. 27 , vl ( J-WHD- $ CLASS OF i Not all of a student's education comes from classwork or homework; he learns in- valuable lessons in how to get along with others through extracurricular activities. Preceding classes of Juneau High students have worked hard to create the many ac- tivities which we all enjoy. We will always remember the ball games, the pep rallies, Homecomings, proms, assemblies, dances, and other activities. They entertained us, and also enabled our clubs to carry out projects which benefit our school and commu- nity. FRONT ROW: L. Kuerth, K. Checkai, R. Couperus, R Duessler, W. Matuszeski, J. Being late for classes the first day, finding the right rooms, deciding who gets which half of the locker, freshmen orientation classes, and other activities are only a few of the many obstacles they encountered. Now that the year is nearing its close, most of the sixty-nine freshmen have learned that it takes work to be in high school. But while they sweat at their work, they have had good times, such as sponsoring the social hours after home basketball games. The Sophomore-Freshman party was a blast! Even bragging how much the tuberculin test didn't hurt you was fun! I think every freshman must admit he has had at least one fun moment being a Frosh. 32 FRONT ROW: R Bassette, B. Kikkert, F.
