Let's get together! Taking a deep breath, on Sept. 5, 1961, 51 sophomores, 19 girls and 32 boys, knew this was an important year. First the sophomores had a welcome party for the freshmen. Later a return party was given to the sophomores by the freshmen. Soon Homecoming came and the decorating of the gym was up to the sophomores. After many long hours of work, the sophomores succeeded in creating an enchanting gym with Stardust as their theme. Biology and world history took many hours of study and preparation throughout the year. As summer approached, the class looked forward to a time of fun and the start of another adventurous year at J. High Salesman, D. Wolosz; Team Captains, D. Wolosz and J. Kuhlman; Chairman, S. Christian. On September 5, 1961, the junior class started their third year of high school with the addition of two new students, Sharon Jump and Roberta Lloyd. There are now 58 members in our class. Last year during the annual election the students chose their class officers. They are treasurer, M. Matthews; vice president, S. Schlueter; secretary, J. Schumacher; president, D. Haertel. The junior class did a very fine job decorating their homecoming float. They took first place in floats and also in window decorations. A short time after school started the students selected their class rings. They waited anxiously for the day when they would come. Many juniors participated in the Junior Merit Scholarship exams. The class did not do as well as expected in their annual magazine campaign, however they accumulated enough money for their Prom. As the year came to a close, they enjoyed working together to make the Prom a success. FRONT ROW: M. Gubin, T. Couperus, T. Schultz, E. Krause, T. Roemer, K. Gemetzke, D. Schultz, L. Maas, C.
