Happy days are here again! On September 5, 1961, 66 shy freshmen, 36 girls and 30 boys, entered the halls of J.H.S. The first important duty of the class was to elect its various officers. They were: President, S. Westimayer; Vice-President, M. Cox; Secretary, R. Nehls; Treasurer, M. Hemmy. A big project for the freshmen was making a float for the Homecoming parade. After many hours of hard work, the completed float received third prize. A fund-raising activity of their class was the sponsoring of the social hours held after the basketball games. They also held a bundle drive to collect clothes for needy children. In the spring freshmen were busy making plans for the summer and next year's classes. FRONT ROW: B. Gerds, C. Hoeppner, M.
