This group of thirty energetic girls made the best of their two weekly basketball practices—learning the art of teamwork, sportsmanship and cooperation. They also Improved their Indivi- dual skill under the capable leadership of Miss Carol Snell, suo- ceeded by Miss Virginia Burgchardt. Once again there was a tournament wherein the four classes struggled for the girls championship. Girls basketball has been classified as a school activity for many years. It Is an excellent game not only for physical exercise but for mental training as well. The baseball season of '41 was not very successful In the won and lost columns, but It was In the eyes of the coach. In that It gave valuable experience to a number of new pla yere and the team and the coach look for a great season 1 n '42. The years batting average was .321.

The Juneau High School track team of 1940 had an Impressive season, although It was marred In the first few meets because of the Illness of some of the boys. The team won three meets; lost two Including the Cooney and Beaver Dam meets which took place at the beginning of the year. They also placed 16th In the state meet at Madison.
