Tom Dedication For her precious lime and deep concern for the lives and futures of the students at J.H.S. Not just for encouraging them to get the best out of life that it had to offer, but for not let- ting them give up when discouragement seemed unreal. Despite the hardships and shortcomings of her tedious and painstaking job, her stamina was not tom down, but built up by the knowledge and wisdom she gained through these experi- ences . Now as you end your career, it is with great appreciation, love, and respect that we, the Golden Eagle staff dedicate this 1977 Golden Eagle to you, Mrs. Roybeth Blackburn. Memorial — A Teacher Is Forever. Natalie Wallace 1909-1977 Mrs. Wallace began her teaching career with the Copperas I.S.D. in Kimble County in 1928-29. She then began teaching in Junction I.S.D. in 1929-41 and 61-76. She died in January: As a teacher, her outstanding qualities of dedication, her loy- alty, fairness, and devotion to the welfare of her students, as individual beings was evidenced by a constant look out for improvement in herself as a teacher in relation to them. She sought better plans for children through available resources of the day. --Mrs. Ruth Franks I am grateful that I got to know Natalee Wallace, a rare and wonderful center of faith and warmth and love. And that we had her funeral in the sanctuary, Jack Hunnicutt and Sam Coffey co-leading. If you have been touched by Natalee, if you were one of her friends you might especially like to have a copy of this poem she included in a hand-made Thanksgiving card she fixed for her dear friend, Ruth Franks, on friendship: Friendship is a beautiful chain of gold fashioned in God's all perfect mold. Each link a smile, a laugh, a tear, a grip of the hand, a word of cheer. It is as steadfast as the ages roll binding closer each soul to soul. No matter how far or how heavy the load happy is the journey on friendship’s road. Grace and Peace, Rev. Roland Cole Newsletter--Junction Methodist Church 2 I HAVE SEEN DEATH I have often wondered How life can be So lasting and rewarding, And yet so easily destroyed. I have seen Death Take the best in life. Among these, was Kathleen Holekamp. Total silence reigned. Junction High School Had never looked so glum. The students attended classes Although they all seemed to be In an unbelievable daze. The hearts of many Ached with sorrow and regret. Sorrow for her family, Regret for the existence of guns. Kathleen Holekamp lived each day To its fullest. Every day was a new challenge And everyone was her friend. It must have happened because God needed her for a special reason. She must have truly been an angel. One with Kathleen's qualities Would well adorn God's realm. 3 STUDENT LIFE 4 We are all of these; yet, we are unsure of our destiny. We are The Young and the Restless.' ’ V 6 7 8 10 We want to be carefree. We want independence. We want to be ourselves. 11 Learning is a never ending process through which we all experience love, laughter, sad- ness, defeat, despair, and accomplishment. In our youth we make mistakes, but even as we do this we learn. 12 13 Through pride, we gain confidence in ourselves. As our confidence grows, so do our ambitions; therefore, we become restless and ready to stand on our own feet. 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 23 25 26 27 28 CLASSES 29 1977 Senior Class Lou Beam Sandy Beebe Terry Beebe John Blackburn Blake Chenault Gary Chenauli Mervin Dale Kellie DeShazo Maggie Earles Karen Furr Larry Gold Ben Gonzales Noe Gonzales Ralph Hinds Molly Holland Sam Jetton 30 Dana Lennon LeJean Lockett Lisa Loeffler Melissa Martin Salvador Martinez Scott Massie Sylvia Menchaca Lee Modgling David Murr Lori Nelson Lisa Nixon Jesus Ramirez 32 Maggie Earles and Lisa Baker must be listening to another of Mr. Gibson's corny jokes.
