She was escorted by David Franklin. The Junior class was represented by Linda Loeffler, escorted by Mark Maples; Linda Rendon and Eddie Moore represented the Sophomore class; and Jody Adams, escorted by Terry Beebe, represented the Freshman class. PERSONALITY WINNERS Mary Lee Cowsert was chosen as DAR good citizen. Bambi Mims won the title of Kimble County Pecan Queen for 1974. Debra Dunk, a 1973 Junction grad- uate, won 1st runner up, followed by Sally Rogers as 2nd runner up. 78 Student Life TIME FOR FUN An evening of food, fun, excitement and dancing was what the banquet and prom turned out to be on April 26. Faculty, students and parents were present on that eventful night and they were all amazed at the decora- tions that the Juniors had prepared for the seniors. The work may have been hard, but it was all worthwhile. 80 Do they or don’t they? Only their coaches know for sure if they are goofing off or really down to business. The varsity team went to Jr. High games to get some pointers from their lower classmen on how to win a football game. FOOTBALL—JUNCTION STYLE On the morning before the cru- cial Junction-Sonora football game, the students of JHS were surprised to see that the front lawn of the High School re- sembled a cemetery! Some jokesters from Sonora had planted crosses bearing each Junction varsity player’s name, number, and an appropriate epitaph, such as “Won’t run,” “Can’t throw,” and “Baby face.” 81 ROUGH GOING What’s going on—men’s liberation? In the Home and Family Living class, the Senior boys learn about the things a housewife has to put up with while doing her womanly chores. Although they seem to be enjoying fixing pizzas, the boys will soon tire of all the work put into cooking and housework and will much rather have the woman of the house do it. 82 FHA and FFA get together to liven the activities of JHS by giving a hayride. Everyone is snug and cozy before the long ride starts. On their arrival, couples group together for rap sessions before getting down to the nitty-gritty of eating. The evening turned out to be an enjoyable experience. 83 SPIRIT AT PEP RALLIES Spirit is one of the most important fac- tors during football season. It boosts everyone’s morale and makes the boys want to work harder to win for their school. For this reason, a pep rally is held every Friday to add enthusiasm and spirit to the excitement of each weekly game. FISH START YEAR OFF RIGHT The 1974 Freshman class got pestered by the Junior class as well as by the Seniors this year. Seniors made the Fish do the traditional slave work like polishing shoes and having air-raids in the halls. Juniors livened things up by getting some Freshman to serve at the annual Jr.-Sr. Prom. 85 Senior football players were honored at the annual football banquet. They were: 1st row: Hector Sepeda, Keith At- chison, Jaime Martinez, Lynn Molesworth, Gary Davis, David Franklin and Kyle Vogt. 2nd row: Cole Holland, John Eubank, Roy Carpenter, Tim Chandler, Oscar Sepeda and Joe Dutton. JHS FOOTBALL BANQUET 86 Tommy Thompson, coach; Tom Brown, head coach; James Cameron, speaker; C. E. Booth, coach and Lonny Wil- liams, coach. Barnbi Mims shows the student body how to move the hip to catch a ball in a side pocket. She masters the trick within a few tries. Could it be true that two heads are better than one or is someone seeing double? The Junior class officers seem to to think someone goofed somewhere. MASS OF CONFUSION Tryouts are fun for some people. Kellie DeShazo and Jody Adams decide to prove how much fun it can be by doing a few yells during cheerleading tryouts. 87 FHA ACTIVITIES FHA members learned how to re-do old furniture and wash cars this year. Sherran Rowe, Bethany Randle, Mary Nethery and Doxie Dutton demonstrate how they remove paint and apply varnish to some items. FHA members held a car wash to make some extra money. Here some girls show their abili- ties by cleaning a car inside as well as outside. Liz Ann Dechert, Rissa Burns and Vicki Hardin were chosen to accompany the FHA sponsor, Mrs. Emily Bierschwale, to the FHA State Meet. 89 ODDS AND ENDS COOKIE-MAKERS Some people say cooking is only for the “older generation”, but it seems as though the “younger generation” feels differently about it. Mrs. Chandler’s kindergarten class was going to give a party and each child was to invite only one guest. With the help of the HE II students, the class was busy making the cookies for the party. 90 Athletics ATHLETIC LEADERS OF JHS Tom Brown is head athletic coach and directs boy’s track.
