Foreword . . . From the time the first satellite began circling the globe in the darkness of space till the first rocket lights the path to the moon, is the journey you and I have traveled together the past school year. This year's staff members have spent many hours of labor, sweat, joy and sometimes tears to produce this unusual book. Studying the universe from nearly every angle of the galaxy we feel that we have come up with not only modern history but a good prophecy of the future. Although I have seen most of the past four years' school activities through the viewfinder of a camera, I can still say they have been pleasant ones. I have received high honors and privileges by w a y o f my camera which I feel would have been impossible without the guidance and push of my teachers and friends. Speaking for the entire senior class, we bid each of our lower classmen farewell and hope that what you receive in Junction High School will seem as val- uable to you as it does to us. Within the following pages, you will find the e- vents of this near-past school year recorded in the best way we know how to bring them to you in picture form. Theme • • has made a rapid improvement in the last fifty years. The road traveled by the stagecoach was a rough one. It wasn't long, however, until the automobile took its place. As science began to advance,the airplane came into being, and now we are faced with not only the luxury of this advancement but the unknown fu- ture that lies ahead. The advances today have gone past gravity, and the road that lies before us in yonder darkness will be rougher than any that lay just around the bend for the stagecoach. Concerned with the world we live in today and having a vital interest in what lies ahead of us in the future, the editors, staff and management of this book chose as a our theme, THE AGE OF SPACE. Throughout the succeeding pages you will find photographs and other means of space creation produced especially for this book. These near- professional productions are a product of our own staff members who worked many hours to develop them. The class officers' pages, also a staff production, were made possible by way of super-imposing photography. It has been a wonderful experience for us, to piece together the material for this book.
