Miss Sharon Townsend Miss Ruth Bell English Spanish, English Several new courses have been added to the curriculum. Speech correction is offered to those who need it. Remedial reading is proving beneficial to those junior high students who have taken ad- vantage ot that class. A course in health is available to both junior and senior high school students. Many have taken advantage of this course because they know that it will soon be required for gradua- tion. Since there is no class room available, the health classes are being taught in the auditorium. A portable screen has been provided for the visual education department. Movies and slides are now shown in the individual class rooms. The faculty, as well as the student body, is looking forward to the new high school. However, this is a vear that we will never forget nor regret. Mr. Charles G. Fiffc Drivers Education, Coach Mr. George C. Madelen Social Science, Coach Mrs. Pauline Olive! Mrs. Sue Carol Brunner Mrs' Maw Ruth Carter Enslish English Faculty Our faculty has been increased by ten teach- ers this year. This is because all seventh grades are in our building and all the other classes have an increased enrollment. Since all the seventh through twelfth graders from Fort Riley attend our school, there are a great many students dropping out and others entering during the year. We maintain a con- stant enrollment of about twelve hundred students. The large room on third floor that has been used for visual education and as a lunch room had to be divided into three class rooms. A class room Mrs. Vera Russell English English Mrs. Claribel Costello Mr. John Ieffries English English, .lournalism was also made out of part of the industrial arts room. Although every available space is being used, sev- eral teachers do not have a definite room assigned to them but must teach in a different room each hour. The regular school day begins at 8:10 a. m. and ends at 3216 p. rn. This new schedule pro- vides for six class periods each day. The fifth hour home room period has been eliminated. Announce- ments are made during the fifth hourp and when necessary, a short home room period is held at one o'clock. Study halls are provided in the cafeteria and the library. Every student is enrolled in at least four subjects and gym and may take vocal or instrumental music. The other period is spent in one of the study halls. All school activities are held immediately after the class sessions. Miss M617 Louise 500310111 Mrs. Opal Shellhaas Mrs. Sandra Singer English English -3-
