FRESHMAN BASKET BALL TEAM MIDGET BASKET BALL TEAM. GIRLS' HIGH SCHOOL BASKET BALL TEAM BOYS' HIGH SCHOOL BASKET BALL TEAM Aihletit ernrhs THE I 912 FOOTBALL SEASON. HE 1912 football season in many ways was the most suc- cessful one in the history of the Junction City High School. The team showed great promise from the very beginning. Beginning with a victory over Dickinson County on October 13, the team was not defeated during the entire eason, which ended with a victory over Salina High School, at Salina, on November 22. Clay County, our old time rivals, were badly defeated in both games, the first one, 20 to 7, and the second one, 37 to 0. The hardest game of the season was the Salina game, which Junction won 7 to 6, and it was the final test to see who would win the Central Kansas championship. The season was a success because J. C. H. S. possessed a bunch of fellows who were real football players, fellows who understood the game and who were willing to iight from start to finish. The team never gave up hope in any game during the season. It fought to the last ditch. The Junction City High School football team returned from Salina as the champions of Central Kansas, and we also have a good claim to the state championship, which lies between Junc- tion City, Hutchinson and Topeka. THE COA C HES. Junction City can boast of having two of the best coaches in the state. There is Dr. Smiley with his great cunning, his mar- velous diagnosis of the formation of the enemy's line, his long experience in the game, his crafty system of play, his manner of meeting defeat, and his place in the hearts of the players that enables him to appeal to their fighting spirit and not appeal in vain. Lined up with Dr. Smiley is I. M. Platt. Although he has not been helping regularly this year, he is another peppery young man. I. M. is one of those hustling, gingery, scrappy gents who believes in putting the fear of the Lord in the heart of the enemy. 'Che High School Year ,Book THE FOOTBALL LINE UP.
