Through the years our student body has suffered many losses of one kind or another. This past year we have sustained three tragic losses - one recently retired faculty mem- ber and two recent alumni. lt has often been said that we grow from each experience in life. If this be true, we can only feel a greater appreciation for life and reverent respect for death. The Scriptures tell us that the Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away. We have no promise that our years here will be long or short, as evidenced here. We might pause to take a more detailed inventory of our own lives over the past twelve years. Would others be able to say of us that our lives have been fruitful and under- standing? In our quest for knowledge, as we mature, we desire to be loved and ad- mired as these three persons. Mrs. Ruth Cullins, retired after 24 years of service was the wife of W. W, Cullins. She had taught in Junction City schools for the past 19 years. Mrs. Cullins died on October 9, 1968, after a lengthy illness. The values she instilled inuswill, truly, have a lasting effect on our lives. As our thoughts stray to Sandra Bailey, we can recall the vitality she possessed in her approach to life. There were few dull moments in her company. Sandra had just finished a 2-year secretarial course at Southern State College. An unfortunate accident claimed Sandra's life on July 17, 1968. She was the oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Bailey, Rt. 1, Junction City. John Christian will always hold a very special place in our memories. He was truly a friend to all. His abilities of leadership, unparalleled energy and devoted school spirit made him great in our sights. John was attending Southern State College. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Christian, Rt. 2, Junction City. John was killed in an automobile accident on November 15, 1968. In final tribute to these persons, we feel we have profited much from having been associated with them through the years. Thanks be for the privilege.
