You become an empty echo When the moon is dull, And the sun-warmth adds no beauty To the bare brown hill. I So is the growing Springtime Like the stupid mirth of an empty headed laughter in a moment's birth ,lust the answer to the echo Of a lonely heart When the fire warmth of winter Will too soon depart. Oh bring the chill of evening To the morning air. For the sweeter breath of sunlight What is hidden there. And return the empty hours That are yours alone Till the spring can call the robin I From where it has flown. Maybe when your cooling rapture Will become a flame again, No years will ever part us .... . . . Then. BERNICE STERN I'lVI IN LOVE Oh, I'm in love with the golden air, In love with the singing Howers, In love with the curve of the wing of a bird, In love with the fleeting hours. And I'm in love with dreaming dreams, In love with the joy of giving, I have no love to call my own, But I'm in love with living. BETH HARBER PLEA The day you left, upon my heart, IA weight of grief did press But, oh, my darling Hurry back Before the weight grows less. RITA SCHWARTZ SUNRISE Morning awoke faintly tinged, With fairy pastels lightly fringed. But decked herself in wilder hues Of blatant golds and daring blues. Then noisy colors my sleep invade And thus annoyed I draw the shade. RITA SCHWARTZ ' cw o flsyk rift fi , - 5 Ti :'- , f C 9 f 9 ' T77

One last look in the mirror. She looked swell if she had to say so herself. Arming herself with a smile, she braved herself for come what may. She cautiously opened the door, her eyes widened in horror. But, itis impossible. This creature was at least 6 inches shorter than herself! Why, it just wasn't done-one didn't go to one's Prom with a-a baby! Conquering her emotions, she practiced her ulinen-the one she had rehearsed yesterday. He used his Hlinen too. U They arrived at the Ritz. Head in air, she preceded Jim into the ball- room. She hoped they wouldn7t laugh or poke each other knowingly. No one laughed. No one, except a few classmates, acknowledged her presence. They were too busy. It wasn't so bad after all-and he was a good dancer. This was her prom. 9 ANNA TONNESEN STUFF Itls not that lim old fashioned - OF ONE I LOVE I Or the modern things abhor G Evening I like the new-fangled notions And streamlining do adore And the music of the Wind Can openers and zippers That Smgs to me Songs of one I love.
